Celebrate the Douro’s harvest tradition with a truly unique experience at the historic Quinta da Avessada, in the heart of Favaios. With departure and return to the city of Porto, this full-day programme immerses you in the roots of Douro winemaking. Begin with a warm welcome in the Enoteca gardens, accompanied by the sound of the concertina and a glass of white Moscatel wine. Then head to the vineyards to handpick grapes to the rhythm of traditional music, followed by the transport of the grapes to the granite troughs.
The day continues with a typical lunch prepared in iron pots, just like local tradition dictates. After that, take part in the age-old ritual of grape-stomping and visit the Enoteca, where you’ll enjoy a tasting of the “Moscatel de Honra” and learn about the winemaking process behind Favaios Moscatel and Port Wine. With 160 years of history, Quinta da Avessada is a place where heritage, landscape and flavour come together.
