Step into the heart of Portuguese heritage with the Feira dos Vinte — also known as the Feira Grande de Janeiro — one of the oldest and most cherished traditional fairs in Vila do Conde. Established in 1704 by King Pedro II, this vibrant event has long been a celebration of community, local crafts, rural life, and meaningful connections.

In the past, farmers, artisans, and families gathered in their Sunday best, exchanging smiles, poems, and even first glances of love. The most iconic symbol of this tradition? The engraved wooden spoon — a simple yet heartfelt gift from a young man to the girl who had captured his heart. These small tokens often marked the beginning of lifelong love stories.

Today, the Feira dos Vinte Solidarity Experience brings this beautiful tradition into the present with renewed creativity, cultural pride, and a meaningful social purpose. Join this authentic event where Portuguese culture, romance, and community spirit come together in a celebration of the past — with heart and soul.

What this experience offers you

When you purchase one of these spoons and give it to someone you love, you are carrying on a story and preserving a tradition, but you are also transforming a gesture into hope for those who need it most. Important: at the time of purchase, please provide us with the address where you would like the spoons to be sent.

What you need to know

In the schools of Vila do Conde, students, with their imagination always awake, recreate this centuries-old custom every year. They decorate the modest wooden spoons, transforming them into true little works of art, full of colour, talent and identity.
This year, these spoons have a new destination: they will be sold to support a charitable cause, chosen to make a difference in the life of our community.  Important: at the time of purchase, please provide us with the address where you would like the spoons to be sent.
